I keep it in the kitchen by the sink. It has been so handy. I shave off bits to do the dishes. I wash up with it, even after gardening, and it is wonderful. It also keeps two young active boys clean and that is enough of an endorsement! I have used it to pre-treat laundry, wash counters, scrub pans. I could go on and on (and have) but this soap is just great to have around. I am glad I was curious. I have read it treats acne too! Bailey "Bryan Bailey" (Knoxville, TN United States) - See all my reviews    When I was a kid my Mamaw sent Papaw to the store to buy a bar of Octagon Soap after I had been out in the woods on their farm all day. She told me to wash any parts that were exposed while I was in the woods and I wouldn't break out in poison ivy, which happened to me every time. Sure enough she was right. The juice from poison ivy adheres to your skin really well and this soap will wash it right off and usually prevent a rash if you don't wait too long to use it (no more than a few hours). Anything that you could come up with it will work on. You can use it to clean household things, wash dishes, or even treat your acne ridden skin. Its a great product. I remember as a child at my grannies house using this soap to bathe with every night after being out side all day and playing. Its a great product give it a try it won't cost you much, And it almost lasts a lifetime. I have had mine for some time now and only gone through about 1 inch worth of it. Because I have 4 kids and do a LOT of laundry, I was looking for an inexpensive but effective laundry detergent. I even briefly tried making my own, using a recipe I found on the Internet. That recipe included ground soap, and resulted in T-shirts with permanent yellow stains around the necks and underarms. Apparently, soap reacts with something in sweat. Still searching for an alternative to the expensive stuff, I stumbled on Charlie's Soap here on Amazon, and decided to try a small bag to see if it was effective. The stuff is amazing! It removed those seemingly permanent yellow stains left by my homemade soap misadventure, and will take out all kinds of other stains. Over time, it's even managed to remove the ground-in dirt from the bottoms of my kids' socks. Charlie's actually isn't soap, chemically speaking, so it won't cause the trouble that a true soap does. I can use it on my microfiber cleaning cloths, and they don't wind up gummed up with residue... I also use it to clean my bath tub and toilet! It cleans soap scum and stains so well in the rest of the house. The detergent is excellent. I have used Tide for years and they also rate high on Consumer Reports for front loaders. I won't buy it here at that price. As other reviewers have commented, it is way overpriced on Amazon. I can get it a lot cheaper at Walmart or even my local supermarket. Amazon pricing is great on a lot of items. They really missed the boat on this one.
