Too much of it, or leaving it sitting in your washer, will leave some damage. It can easily etch metal or discolor a lot of materials. However, if you have hard water and your dishwasher is leaving residue or even food, you will probably see improved performance if you add some of this. I suggest you add as little as possible, and adjust as needed. I've put about half a teaspoon on top of the detergent, and it's deployed at the right time in my cycle. It simply makes my dishwasher work again. Also, this stuff is exceptional at cleaning bathrooms if you add just a bit to a bucket of warm water and bleach. Make sure you don't leave it soaking, though. Honestly, you shouldn't need that much cleaning power very often, but if you put a shower head in that solution, it will remove all scale. I bought the TSP to add back the active ingredient to get my dishwasher working again. It works great! the dishes come out spotless and the inside of my dishwasher even looks and smells cleaner. It only takes a little less than a teaspoon to get it to work so the one pound box should last awhile. My husand and I have tried everything. We washed our towels with several different types of washing liquid and powder, but no luck. Anyway, I refused to be embarrassed by "smelly towels" when guests visit (which is often), so I thought I would give this product a try. It was the answer to my prayer. The smell is gone and does not return when the towels get wet. My towels are just like new and it doesn't fade the dark towels. If you have "smelly" towels, please give this stuff a try before you waste your money on new ones. I am sure you won't be disappointed if you follow the directions properly. This cleaner finally did the trick in one washing!! I thought it was a little expensive but you only use one tablespoon per wash load so there's probably enough in one bottle to clean every towel in your house. Well worth the money! Not that it was the most beautiful scent in the world, it just let you know, as you would soon see, that perfect results would be evident. The bathroom sparkled. The kitchen was shiny and new. With all the super-atomic-organic cleaners on the market today, isn't it funny I always feel compelled to return to old-faithful again and again? Somehow you just know... when you want it clean, you want it Ajax clean. Even with all of the new cleaning products out there, I seem to get the best results with Ajax, scrub brush and a little elbow grease. I used it in my shower to get that pesky mold out of the grout. Just a sprinkle of Ajax, a great grout brush I also got on Amazon and a little water and presto, the mold was gone and I was more than pleased! Great on toilet bowls too! Would recommend to everyone!
