This has completely made up for it! I can't use fabric softener because of its effect on my sensitive skin, so I'm always looking for a detergent that not only cleans great but has a lasting smell. It is hands down, my favorite scent and even better that it's Tide. I've had the best luck with this stuff - it cleans every bit as well as regular Tide. It gets out stains the same as the regular version but it also protects the colors of you clothing a lot better. It has a nice, clean scent, washes completely out without leaving a residue, and just is wonderful when paired with the matching Downy fabric softner. It's pricey here though - you can get it cheaper almost anywhere else, which is surprising for amazon. Anyway, give it a try - you'll love the difference in your clothes. Well this detergent comes close.First, the level of discoloration and fabric fade depends a lot on the quality of clothing. For example, a cloth with a very cheap dye will discolor and fade no matter what detergent you use. I was pleasantly surprised how well this detergent maintained the fabric colors. After around 10 washes, my new jeans still looked almost good as new. Ditto for my black shirt. This detergent was not quite as good in maintaining fabric integrity. But that probably had to do with my laundry machine as much as anything. I am still satisfied, however, with the level of fabric fade. Yes, there might be a small compromise in the level of stain fighting power. I don't think this detergent was meant for the heavy duty stains.
