We were a family of four when we bought the washer and now are a family of six. Our washer has seen the potty training of three children, cloth diapers for two children, and is used and abused. The seal is coated with the gunk that no one wants to clean. Every once in awhile the washer is run with hot water and vinegar. We quit using bleach when one of the kids was diagnosed with eczema. On a whim, I picked Tide Washing Machine Cleaner up at the store. The directions say to use once a week for washers like mine - with an odor problem or visible residue. Then after three weeks to use once a month for maintenance.Week 1- no real visible change but the washer does smell nice. Did not notice a difference in the cleanliness of clothes. I must admit. The washer still does a fantastic job at cleaning regardless of the junk on the seal. Week 2 - Dude. My gunk is practically gone and again the washer smells... My washer didn't smell awful (like the hobo in a previous review) just a little funky. I'd done a bleach-only wash a few times, but it got funky again, and until then I had to deal with strong bleach smell.I threw a pack of this in the wash and let it do its thing over night. The next morning, everything in the laundry room smelled fresh and clean. I even stuck my head in the washer and there's not a trace of funk. Highly recommended product here! |
